Terms of Use

Plain terms for a small utility. Pinned is a macOS app that shows network activity. Using it means accepting what follows.

The licence

You get a personal, non-exclusive licence to use Pinned on Macs you own or control. The app remains ours. You may not resell it, rent it, or redistribute it. You may not decompile or reverse engineer it except where law expressly permits.

Pinned Pro subscription

• Pinned is free to download and use. The menu bar readout and all of its appearance settings are free permanently and are not time limited.
• Pinned Pro unlocks per-app bandwidth, data caps and the billing-cycle forecast, alerts, the responsiveness test, and usage history.
• Pinned Pro is an auto-renewable subscription billed yearly. The price is shown in your local currency at the point of purchase.
• Payment is charged to your Apple Account at confirmation. It renews automatically unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the current period ends, and your account is charged for renewal within 24 hours of the period end.
• You can manage or cancel the subscription in your Apple Account settings at any time. Cancelling stops future renewals; it does not refund the period already paid.
• Apple handles all billing. Refunds are at Apple's discretion under their terms.

What Pinned measures, and its limits

Pinned reports what your operating system reports. It is a measurement tool, not a billing system, and we state its limits rather than hide them:

• Per-app figures are sampled every few seconds, so a transfer that begins and ends between two samples may not appear, and per-app numbers do not sum exactly to the interface total.
• Data cap tracking counts what passes your Mac's network interfaces. It will not match your carrier's billing exactly, and must not be relied on as the sole basis for a billing decision. Your carrier's own figures are authoritative.
• The responsiveness test deliberately saturates your connection while it runs, and runs only when you start it.

No warranty

Pinned is provided as is, without warranty of any kind. We do not warrant that it will be uninterrupted or error free, or that its measurements are exact.

Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total liability is limited to the amount you paid for the app in the twelve months before the claim. We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, including any charge levied by your network provider. Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Sultanate of Oman.
